Baguette Me, a taste of Vietnam in Costa Mesa

Located in a small strip mall off 17th Street, Baguette Me is the perfect combination of traditional Vietnamese and a touch of modern cuisine. As you walk into the store you'll see a combination of earthy natural wood and a vibrancy of orange on the walls. In front of you, there's a marque with all the different Banh Mi Sandwiches and a large glass case displaying all of their pastries and quiches.

The menu consists mainly of the sandwiches and pastries. Everything that I tried was delicious. A couple of important key points.... everything is made in house. The bread is traditional Vietnamese baguettes made by two older Vietnamese men in the back. They hand knead and roll each baguette just like they do it in Vietnam. And all of the pastries, including the mini quiches, are made in house by a French pastry chef.

One important thing to mention...Baguette Me is located in Costa Mesa on the Newport Beach border. All of there items are made in house. Don't be surprised that prices are going to be more expensive than a banh mi shop in little Saigon. You're paying for the product, portion size and location. These are substantial sandwiches.

Great ambiance. Overall, I was a fan. However, I must admit, I would have really liked the option to add the traditional pate to my sandwich. But over all, everything (especially the pastries) were excellent.
