Have you ever tried 230 Forest Ave in Laguna?
Located two minutes from the sand of Laguna Beach, 230 Forest Avenue is serving up some of the essential classics with style. Its a smaller restaurant with a great outdoor patio made for people watching. Its a restaurant that would be great for a brunch, a lunch with a girlfriend and a romantic dinner.
I'll be honest, I've been to the Watermarc located 5 minutes away and also owned by Chef Marc Cohen. I knew I was going to like the food here, but when I first viewed the menu I wasn't totally overwhelmed with excitement. I've seen many of the same dishes at many other restaurants. The thing is, the other restaurants aren't serving it up like 230 Forest Avenue is. Everything I tried tastes FRESH. You know that feeling when you put the food in your mouth, you take your first bite and you gleefully think...Yes! And thank you! Nothing was fishy, nothing was wilted, nothing had been sitting under a heat lamp. They've really got their flavor profiles tuned in and the plating is on point. The only thing I was slightly marginal about was the Profiteroles. The are filled with Coconut Ice Cream. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of coconut, but I could swim in that dark chocolate fudge that they serve them with! Check out the pictures below for the details on each of the plates I tried.
When venturing to Laguna Beach for the many activities that it provides, I definitely would recommend 230 Forest Avenue. They are serving up comforting classic with a twist and doing it right. Lets not forget the drinks either. They serve a good cocktail. Strong and tasty! I'll definitely be back.
