Lunch with a side of people watching at Marmalade Cafe-The Grove

Located just outside the Farmers Market at the Grove in LA, I found Marmalade to have such a cozy and comfy atmosphere! We had lunch on patio, which is perfect to have a cocktail and people watch. If you've never been to the Grove, you should know that there's a huge mix of high end and crazy passers by! You can park either at the Farmers Market smaller lot or the Grove's parking structure. Just be warned you get one hour free and it goes up pretty quickly from there. You can get validation if you do some shopping or go to the movies.

Marmalade has a huge selection of appetizers. We immediately eyed the Pesto Steamed Mussels and Clams. So much flavor and they give you a sourdough toast to dip into the broth. Honestly, I want to come back and order it with a side of rice and eat it as an entree. Its that good.

For the first entree we tried the Brick Roasted Mary's Half Chicken. Its served with crispy roasted potatoes, broccolini and a red pepper relish. The chicken is moist and the skin is a wonderful crispy! To be honest, its a little bland. However, once you dip it into that red pepper relish its awesome!!!

The second dish was the Chicken Marsala. The pasta was cooked perfectly. It was saucy and there were a ton of mushrooms! Its served with a small arugala salad on the side. It was actually really nice to eat in between bites of the pasta. It helped to keep the pasta from being too heavy. A must order!

And then there was dessert. We had the Tiramisu and the chocolate lava cake.

The tiramisu was smooth and creamy and rich without being overly sweet.

The chocolate lava cake was warm, chocolatey and decadent!

Both were very good.

We definitely had lovely afternoon at the Marmalade Cafe and would come back. The server was awesome and really helped us make decisions on what to order. Keep in mind they always have a seasonal specials menu too. When we went it was a celebration in lobster. Also, all the restaurants are large enough for birthday parties or special engagements. But for me, all I want is a glass of good wine, a patio on a hot summer day and a good friend to enjoy it with. Marmalade was the perfect place for this! Marmalade Cafe
