Memphis Cafe is a Costa Mesa classic!

Updated: Aug 18, 2019

Located just outside the Anti Mall in Costa Mesa, CA I've been going to Memphis Cafe for years! It's small, it's quaint, it sometimes has a DJ and the happy hour ROCKS. So when I was asked if I wanted to a photo shoot at Memphis for OC weekly, I literally jumped at the chance. LITERALLY JUMPED. I lived down the street for 10 years before I moved to LA. I've been to Memphis so many times I can't count. Always has been a favorite! And now I get to shoot for them? Me? Yes!

I got there at 10am and we sat on the patio. The lighting was perfect and things hadn't changed a bit since the last time I had been here before moving to LA. The inside of the restaurant is always dark and seedy and I love it. The patio outside is clean and comfortable and bright.

The menu has changed a slightly, but is relatively the same. They still have their gumbo, fried chicken, meatloaf, fried catfish and hush puppies. The appetizer and salad section has definitely grown and I'm not complaining. And they still have the mussels the I would get once a week during happy hour! Yea for shellfish! Also, the hours have changed. they are now open for brunch 7 days a week. From 8am to 3pm. The happy hour menu starts at 3pm and goes until 6pm. The dinner menu starts at 5pm and goes until close.

It's a casual restaurant with a cool relaxed vibe and great comfort food. Check out some of the dishes I tried for OC Weekly. These were Valentines day specials.

I'll definitely be back over and over!
