Strada in DTLA

Located in historic downtown LA in the King Edward Hotel, Strada is the place to go for downtown locals. When you first walk in you'll see the high ceilings and original crown moldings, the original tile floors and a smaller eating area. Behind the counter will be a good looking scruffy man with wavy hair and charming smile. That's Julian the owner. He's there every single day. If you tell him what you're in the mood for, he'll take care of you. Let him know that Norma sent you.

Strada means street in Italian. The menu is eclectic European street foods. Mainly Sandwiches, salads, and platters. A little French, a little Italian and throw in a bit of Spanish. All the cured meats and cheese are of the finest quality and I definitely recommend the ceviche. I had it with fresh cod but Julian makes it with whatever is the freshest for that day. The bread....oh the crusty Italian bread...I'm still thinking about it. Don't skip the Turkish coffee. Its nothing you can get from Starbucks. Slightly bitter, but has serious depth of flavor. If you're like me you'll just want to add a little bit of sugar.
