The Watermarc in Laguna is a classic
Updated: Aug 14, 2019
Located on PCH on the main strip of shops, galleries and restaurants, the Watermarc Restaurant has become an icon of Laguna Beach. Its a two story restaurant with the bar featured on the main floor. There is a small outdoor patio both in the front of the restaurant and on the 2nd floor. Also, the top floor can be rented out for larger parties. The decor is a sophisticated casual. I wouldn't suggest wearing work out gear, but jeans and a blouse/button down shirt is totally acceptable for lunch. I'd throw on a pair of heels or a blazer for dinner.
Both the lunch and dinner menu's consist of 26 Grazing Plates, followed by more contemporary twists on traditional dishes. Everything I tried was beautiful, mouthwatering and packed with flavor. They have a full bar including beer on tap and a choice of over 30 different wines by the glass.
The Owner and Executive Chef is Marc Cohen. Who is also the chef/co-owner of 230 Forest Avenue (Laguna Beach) and Opah Restaurant & Bar (Aliso Viejo and Irvine). Besides having won numerous awards over the years, he's a nice man with a firm hand shake. The Chef de Cuisine is Kiel Andersen. Keil who is a South Orange County native who works long hours because he loves what he does. He's been cooking straight out of high school. The manager on staff the day I went was Terri. Such a sweet woman with a gorgeous smile and a firm knowledge and love of the restaurant. Our server who was also named Kyle, who attentive, gracious and quite knowledgeable about the menu.
Scroll over the below pictures to see details about the dishes I tried. Everything I ate was amazing and I would order again. Other key dishes to try are the Seafood Paella, Cedar Planked Salmon, the Pork Chops, the Rack of Lamb and the Filet 3 ways. I'm also ready to try the Artichoke Risotto and the Potatoes 3 ways. I'll definitely be back.
